1) Buckeye Hills Career Center Adult Education has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution intends to use, no less than 50 percent of the funds received under Section 18004 (a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
2) The total amount of funds that the institution has received from the Department pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement [for][/for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students is $113,253.
3) The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 5/29/2020 – $113,253.15.
4) The estimated total number of students at the institution eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act is 118 students.
5) The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act as of 5/29/2020 is 85.
6) The District determined that active students that were enrolled in a 600-hour or longer program as of March 13, 2020 and were still in an active enrollment status as the date of campus shutdown on March 16, 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic are deemed eligible to receive the Emergency Financial Aid Grant for students. Withdrawn students as of date of disbursement, were not eligible for HEERF funds. Students were required to have a FAFSA on file with BHCC to determine Title IV eligibility and had to certify that they incurred expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to Coronavirus and will utilize the emergency grant relief funds to cover these associated costs. 118 eligible students were given the opportunity to fill out a Google Form to request or decline emergency HEERF funds. Once all the replies were received by the submission deadline; the District disbursed HEERF funds evenly among the 85 eligible funding requests received and checks were mailed to students on May 29, 2020.
7) The 118 students that were eligible to receive the Emergency Financial Aid Grant were given the opportunity to fill out a Google Form in which they provided financial hardships if requesting funds; as well as certifying that they incurred eligible expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to Coronavirus. Eligible expenses were explained to include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. Students were emailed through the student messenger system all information pertaining to the Cares Act Grant and procedures to request funds. Announcements were placed on the school Facebook page to inform students that they would receive emails concerning the process.
