P.N. 100% Pass Rate on State Board Exams

The Practical Nursing School at Buckeye Hills Career Center recently held their 35th graduation. Invocation was delivered by Keisha Eggers, class treasurer, and Truman Noe, Director of Adult Education, provided the welcome. Addressing the graduates were class officers David Grigsby, president, Jodi Silva, vice president, and Jerod Haning, class representative.


The class was presented by Sharon Carmichael, Health Careers Administrator. Presenting diplomas were Michael French, Board of Education, and Kent Lewis, Superintendent. Class pins were presented by faculty Gwen Phillips, Jeanetta Shriver, Amanda Strickland, and Virginia Evans. Fonda More, class secretary, presented the class gift for 2009.


Outstanding Student of the Year award went to Jerod Haning. Jerod received a scholarship from Arbors of Gallipolis. Recognized for academia was Paige Howard, highest GPA, and Angela Stewart, second highest GPA. Paige received a scholarship from Holzer Medical Center and Angela received a scholarship from Pleasant Valley Hospital. Fonda Moore was voted by the class as the student who best represents a student practical nurse, and David Grigsby was recognized for perfect attendance.


Special guests for the night included Bonnie McFarland, HMC Wellness Department; Judy Barcus, Director of Nursing- Arbors of Gallipolis; Michelle Theiss, Manager of Staff Education, Holzer Medical Center; Lori Nunn, Manager of Medical Surgical Units at Pleasant Valley Hospital; and the family and friends of the graduates. The ceremony was closed with a Benediction by Miranda Lewis, class historian. A reception was held in the Corral. 


Below are the 2008 graduates of the Practical Nursing School of Buckeye Hills Career Center.  The graduates have a 100% pass rate on the Ohio Board of Nursing Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses. Out of the schools 35 year history, this makes the 16th year for a perfect pass rate. The school’s average pass rate is 98%
