Classroom and practical
learning experiences train students in basic manipulative skills and related
technical knowledge, safety, proper work habits and the desirable attitudes
necessary to obtain an Ohio Cosmetologist license and for competency in
entry level positions in the cosmetology or related career field. The course
includes training in the following areas: sanitation and bacteriology,
caring for the scalp and hair, wet and thermal styling of the hair,
haircutting and shaping, caring for wigs and hair pieces, permanent waving,
chemical relaxing, tinting, lightening and special color effects, manicuring
and pedicures, skill care and make-up techniques, relaxing body massage,
salon operations and communication skills, plus Cosmetology Laws and Rules.
The cosmetology lab contains modern equipment and facilities including 20
updated stations and hydraulic styling chairs, 7 manicure tables and
operator chairs, an area with retail sales cabinets for each students kit.
Upon successful completion of the 1500 hour Cosmetology program, an
individual may take the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology licensing
examination.
